Phlebotomist - Forensics (24-Hour On-Call)

We are currently seeking highly skilled and motivated part-time Certified Phlebotomy Technicians (CPT-1) for our team. As a valued member of our team, you will be responsible for obtaining evidentiary blood samples from criminal suspects at law enforcement agencies and hospitals. Our highly honored and respected organization is responsible for the collection of blood samples that will be used as evidence in criminal cases. Investigative blood samples are obtained from individuals arrested for various crimes including driving under the influence (DUI), being under the influence of a controlled substance, and a multitude of major crimes including homicide, assault, and rape. Successful candidates must currently possess a State of California Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1 certificate, have excellent phlebotomy skills, previously obtained at least 5,000 blood samples, and have a reliable transportation. Full-time employees typically work three to four 18-hour on-call shifts per week; responding as needed on a STAT basis throughout the county. Must be available from 5:00 am until 11:00 am and 5:00 pm until 5:00 am the following day or 11:00 am until 5:00 am the following day. A typical 18 hour on-call shift consists of an average of approximately 6 hours of actual work (10 responses) and 12 hours of personal free time. Most responses will be in the evening, late night, and early morning hours. New employees typically average in excess of $250.00 per shift, which includes a generous transportation expense reimbursement, per shift. Additional compensation available for CPT’s with an AA, AS, BA, BS degree or are certified as a CPT-2.
